Kareena says 'What is Wrong With Bold Lyrics' Here is what is wrong
Perhaps Kareena has only one-angled look at it, she is not yet a mother and she needs to know there is another perspective and a very important one at that.
And no, it is not about the 'influence of Western culture' or such rubbish. I do not care who goes to a pub or what anyone wears. I am not here as a moral police. Unless something directly affects me I would not care to respond and that is why now I want to respond.
We are all adults here. But are we? What about children who watch television? One can say that they must be restricted to the kids channel only but as a person who does not own a television set I can assure you that's not possible. Hence we need to think of ways to protect the children. We need to guard their innocence at all costs. It is sad that biologically children are maturing very fast, add to it this issue which seems global in nature though the responses vary depending on countries.
A few years ago, a Britney Spears video was released during day time television, parents in the USA complained about its adult content and the video promptly became a "only after 12" video. We cannot imagine such rights as viewers in India. India's fight against moral policing has gone out of control, as such there is no counter-view. The media decides what we watch, the K-series, the movies, we as audience do not have a say, although all of this is presented under the pretension of 'audience demand'. If it really was so, how did you miss the endless times people remember Doordarshan days so wistfully?
Bollywood music is most followed by children and no matter what, parents cannot stop the exposure of Bollywood. Even if we do not take children to the cinemas, the prime time television continously relays Bollywood stuff. You might think, of course if there was an 'A' Certificate on something they wouldn't show it in prime time, right? Wrong. The viewers rating in India are so botched up that you cannot be sure by the ratings of what is to follow, not that they particularly bother to show the ratings in conspicous manner.
Whether we want it or no the technology is growing so fast and along with that is this exposure to risque. Youtube has this 'provision' where we can switch off adult content. But it doesn't ever work. The video suggestions are gross to look at. When there is a need to examine the psychological damage that this onslaught of perversion is having on adults, we cannot imagine what it must do to the children.
Bollywood has always shrugged the affect on an impressionable audience in whatever it depicts, be it violence or boldness. But it is not a responsible response for what is considered a part of media. It is true that reality is gruesome enough to cause such damage. But when it comes to reality there is some control, as such it does not "glamourise" violence or human anatomy. But which Bollywood does, it penetrates our consciousness, it is sitting right in our living and in our smartphones.
There are many women's issues in India that Indian judiciary completly disregards. There is a need for every woman to reconsider what she is about to say and that includes Bollywood actresses. Is India prepared for the kind of sexual liberation that Bollywood is demanding? And in this careless gambit what is your take on children?

Gram Panchayat: Outdated Rural Constitution
Gram Panchayat is a feudal Indian system that is prevalent in India along with the modern judiciary and legislative system. The system was allowed to continue in the pretext that the rural economy was the backbone of agrarian India and hence the traditional system should be allowed to continue till the time that it can be absorbed into the mainstream governance. Apparently some of the rural areas did turn into "talukas" and districts where in they were semi-governed by state forces.
However it seems the time is ripe for this system to be discontinued as more and more people have come to rely on constitutional governance. So what these forces are doing is using psychological forces to continue to rule the people who have no idea that India has turned into a democracy, or for that matter, what democracy is.
Just like people say there should be a civil law common for people of all religion, the law an judiciary should be common for all. The gram panchayat has its own constitution and is a law making entity in itself. That would not be such a problem if it was handing out justice, but these panchayats are harbouring caste politics and increasing caste/religion based differences. Bring everyone under state rule. Enough of this gram panchayat, the whole country is anyway rural in mindset, it will never change if these people keep making decisions for people whose horizons end at the boundary of their village.
